What is KD Ratio in PUBG Mobile?

To have a high KD ratio in PUBG Mobile, we need to know what it actually means and how it is calculated. In this post, we will learn more about it. We will learn the definition of KD ratio, mathematical calculation, factors affecting KD and a comparison of KD then vs now.

Overview of KD ratio

Besides surviving, the goal of every PUBG Mobile player in the game is to get massive amounts of kills. In a 100 player lobby you could kill 96 players in squad mode, 98 in duo mode and 99 in solo mode. However, this is only theoretically possible and cannot be implemented practically unless one has the system and the server in hand. In fact, the number of kills someone scores per match does not remain constant and cannot be predicted. But what remains constant is the average kill-to-death ratio, or KD.

What is KD Ratio in PUBG Mobile?

The full form of KD is Kill to Death. It is the mathematical ratio of the total number of kills achieved by a player to the total number of matches played. In mathematical relation,

KD ratio = kills/matches

The calculation depends on many factors. Match settings are crucial in determining the KD ratio. This is what the KD ratio depends on:

  • Primary factor is killing. The more enemies you kill, the higher your KD ratio.
  • TPP or FPP. The KD ratio is calculated separately for third-person and first-person perspective matches.
  • Solo or Duo or Squad. Each game mode clearly counts the KD ratio. The number of kills you get in a Duo match has nothing to do with your KD ratio in Solo or Squad matches.
  • Server. Although it is difficult to switch servers these days, players used to switch servers to complete missions. Different servers keep different statistics.

For example, the KD ratio is calculated separately for TPP Duo matches on the Asian server, while it is calculated separately for FPP Duo matches on the Asian server. If you’ve ever seen your KD ratio stay constant, you should probably check the aforementioned aspects.

KD Ratio: Then vs Now

With the 0.18.0 update and the release of Season 13, PUBG MOBILE officials had made a huge change in their way of assessing the KD ratio, which would result in a reduction in the KD of a large number of players.

After the update, no one would have their KD ratio over 20 on average unless someone is a hacker. The new KD system would assess your KD ratio using the following mathematical formula:

Kill to Death Ratio (KD) = Kills / Matches Played

Before this update, the meaning of KD was the same, but its implementation was different. It was:

Kill-to-Death Ratio (KD) = Kill / Kill
